Well, should rename that to something that is not weekly, seeing the publication schedule of the last two entry. Beside, it seems easier for me focus on it if I do it on more iregular schedule. Otherwise, I have no excuse for not doing it weekly outside of not having the motivation.
Also, this entry may contain more personal comment than usual. Sorry if you don’t like it.
I’ll also start thinking of a good strategy for mirroring videos. I’m hesitant to use Peertube for it, or if I should instead put them directly in the archive folder. I think Peertube have an auto-mirroring functionality, and it’s already set-up to offload storage to a cheaper place, but it should be harder to mirror it in return.
Also, certainly forgot a few thing. I’ll try to put it for next time
The fourth hack-jam is finished, results avalaible
and I actually don’t remember having spoken about it having started here. This newsletter is really really late…
It ended on the 8 october.

submission for Hack of the Year started (and ended)
By MaxSchersey
The fourth SkyTemple Hack Jam is now over! Thank you to everyone who participated. Community voting will be ready soon, and the results of the jam will be announced in a few weeks.
But, as the hack jam concludes, the first ever SkyTemple Hack of the Year Awards are kicking off! With so many hacks now available to play, we want to help celebrate the best of the best!
Starting now, any hack creator can submit their best project into the selection process, whether it be a story, QOL, or cutscene-only hack, by using the form below. Hacks that are still in progress are eligible for submission as well! For more details, see the form description.
In addition, we are also opening up a signup form for judges! To be a part of the panel voting on winners for each award, we are primarily looking for those that have played, or will be able to play, a lot of hacks over the next few months. Proof of creating a hack or otherwise working with SkyTemple is NOT required in order to be a judge! For more details, see the form description.
The hack submission form will close on October 16, and the judge signup form will close on November 1. On November 1, each judge will be selected and the current version of each submitted hack used for judging purposes will be finalized. Good luck to everyone who enters!
Note that a Google Account is required to complete these forms………………………… I hate when something impose the use or creation of a Google account (except when it’s a Google service itself that does it, I mean. It’s their log–in system, after all)
Skytemple and the SkyTemple Randomizer
SkyTemple 1.3.11 and SkyTemple Randomizer 1.3.6
By Capypara
SkyTemple 1.3.11 and SkyTemple Randomizer 1.3.6
These are (hopefully) the last releases in the 1.3 branch. 1.4 of the Randomizer should be out very soon.
These releases do not contain any functional changes or bugfixes, it exists mostly for technical reasons and as a transitional step towards the 1.4.0 version.
Changes:
Updated GtkSourceView from 3 to 4
Windows: Upgraded Python to Python 3.10
MacOS: Built on macOS 11 (older versions may not be supported anymore), upgraded Python 3.10
a bit later
There has been an update to SkyTemple 1.3.11 (SkyTemple 1.3.11.post1) which fixes a packaging issue. If the update didn't work for you before, try downloading that new version.
Flatpak release
by Capypara
SkyTemple and the Randomizer now available as a Flatpak on Linux! This means you can now pretty easily install it on all major distributions and the Steam Deck. Some distros may require some setup, but you can follow the setup guide on Flathub to get started.
Flatpack is a (one of the multiple) package manager and app-store for Linux. (package manager being the generic name for program that handle the installation of programs (or other stuff) on the system. Flatpack is notably known for being easy to use and run on pretty much all Linux distributions, where it has traditionally been a package manager per distribution (even if most reuse the package manager from another one) (although that second package manager is still needed to at least manage the system dependencies and their update).
Also, there is a package for the Nix package manager (that I, marius851000) use… If anyone want to use it, it’s just ``skytemple`` in nixpkgs. Nix can also work on pretty much all distro, but (sadly ☹️) lack the ease of use of Flatpack.
SkyTemple Randomizer 1.4.0
By Capypara (with a bit of reformating to look better in here. Actually does that to most stuff I (marius851000) copy from Discord here)
Sprites are now downloaded for all available starters and partners
The EventSleep, Laying and Waking animations are automatically filled with the Sleep animation for all starters and partners if no dedicated EventSleep/Laying/Waking is available.
A new algorithm for randomizing item lists was added, this new algorithm should randomize items in a much more balanced way. The old algorithm can still be used (“Items” tab, #92)
The new “Balanced” item algorithm can be configured to apply different multipliers to the weights that are generated (for each item category).
Max. Kecleon shop chances and max. hidden stair chances can now be configured just like the max. monster house chances.
A new patch “AntiSoftlock” by End is automatically applied to each ROM, it allows you to proceed in cutscenes that get stuck.
Bugfixes:
Fixed treasure rooms being randomized and unclearable with the “Boss Room Randomization” option (#69)
Various smaller bugfixes in the code that manipulates the files in the game
Improvements:
Yes/No can now be used as answers in the personality quiz (#86)
(A new YAML library was added that doesn't interpret yes/no/y/n as booleans)
Portraits and sprites are now downloaded from the SpriteCollab server (spriteserver.pmdcollab.org) (#88)
The randomization progress bar now shows how many portraits/sprites were already downloaded and how many are pending
The MoveShortcuts Patch was updated (thanks to End):
“MoveShortcuts has been updated to prevent the player from passing turn by holding A+B while the move list is shown, which would cause a minor graphical glitch.”
The Complete Team Control Patch was updated (thanks to Cipnit):
“Players are now prevented from changing team tactics during manual. For some reason, doing so completely destroys turn order and leadership status.”
Native file handlers written in Rust are now used by default to process the files in the game, this can be disabled if these implementations cause errors (#90)
They should be much faster than the old Python-based implementations
These file handlers include portraits, map graphics, dungeon graphics, dungeon data, monster data, item data, move data, compression algorithms
A lot of under the hood code quality improvements and refactoring
macOS 10 is no longer supported. The minimum version needed is macOS 11.
New features:
The “Patches” section has been restructured:
There is now a subnode there for info on how to write and apply patches with C and Rust using c-of-time.
The functionality to apply ASM patches has moved to “Patches > ASM”.
Applying item, move and special process effects has been moved as subnodes of “Patches > ASM”.
A section on pmdsky-debug has been added (see below).
SpriteCollab Browser:
Using this new tool you can now download sprites and portraits from the SpriteCollab/SpriteBot repositories straight from within SkyTemple itself.
This also supports copying missing EventSleep/Laying/Waking animations from the Sleep animation so Pokémon don't glitch out in the overworld when they are supposed to sleep.
NotSpriteCollab and other custom asset repositories can also be browsed.
SkyTemple is now powered by pmdsky-debug, the community's collaborative effort to reverse engineer most of the game's functions and other symbols. The symbols that are shipped with SkyTemple can be browsed in the “ASM” section“.
New ASM patches (in no particular order):
FixNo$GbaSaves by End:
“Fixes an issue that causes saving to fail on the No$GBA emulator.”
PitfallTrapTweak by Adex:
“Makes Pitfall Traps send the leader back by one floor in ascending dungeons. If the leader activates a Pitfall Trap on 1F, they will restart 1F with a different seed.”
ChangePokemonGroundAnim by an anonymous contributor:
“Changes implementation of idle animation to an editable table.”
DynamicBossesEverywhere by End:
“Allows placing special fixed room entities #124-127 (Explorer Maze enemies) in any fixed room without causing the game to crash.”
BoldText by Adex:
“Adds new text tags that allow for bold text in strings. Encase the desired text with [BS] and [BR].”
ChangeTextSound by Adex:
“Adds new text tags that allow for the textbox sound to be changed. [TS:X] will use the Xth sound effect ID in textboxes. [TR] will revert the sound to default.”
AppraiseAll by an anonymous contributor:
“Adds an extra menu in box appraisal to appraise all boxes at once.”
AntiSoftlock by End:
“Allows the player to press A+B+X+Y during cutscenes to force the game to continue past a softlock (this can happen during cutscenes when using custom sprites or the randomizer). Does not work with crashes caused due to internal errors (such as the game running out of memory).”
SkyTemple now remembers the sprite configuration for imported sprites (ID to action name mapping). This information is saved into the ROM.
Bugfixes:
ROMs no longer get corrupted if SkyTemple crashes while in the middle of saving.
The text string groups for Trap Names and Trap Descriptions were fixed (by marius).
Some issues with loading scripts with invalid/unknown values for arguments were fixed by an anonymous contributor.
Descriptions and labels about some settings in the Fixed Room editor have been fixed by End.
Previously changing some IQ settings instead marked the “Misc. Settings” tab as modified. That has been fixed.
Fix an error message when reloading the ROM while in Fixed Room view
Fixed encoding issues under Windows when exporting/importing floors
Fixed an error message when right clicking the debugger file list while filtering
Improvements:
SkyTemple now shows better error messages when values are entered info fields that are out of the valid range for the given value. The error also usually prints what the supported value ranges are.
The quantity of items in fixed rooms can now be edited (thanks to End).
ASM patches were updated (in no particular order):
ExtractObjectTable was updated by marius to fix data corruption on the EU ROM.
MoveShortcuts by End:
“MoveShortcuts has been updated to prevent the player from passing turn by holding A+B while the move list is shown, which would cause a minor graphical glitch.”
CompleteTeamControl patch by Cipnit:
“Players are now prevented from changing team tactics during manual mode. For some reason, doing so completely destroys turn order and leadership status.”
Native file handlers written in Rust are now used by default to process the files in the game, this can be disabled if these implementations cause errors (in the settings)
They should be much faster than the old Python-based implementations
These file handlers include portraits, map graphics, dungeon graphics, dungeon data, monster data, item data, move data, compression algorithms.
Strings in script files are now using the same physical ID if they are identical (thanks to techticks).
A lot of under the hood code quality improvements and refactoring.
What mechanism is used for asynchronous operations (such as loading files) can now be configured in the settings. The defaults have been tweaked to be more stable and less prone to crash.
Localizations have been updated. Thanks to all our translators!
Client Side Decorations can be disabled in the settings now.
Python 3.11 compatibility
Added backwards-compatibility checks to the ASM Patches sections and in general better error handling
As an open alternative to Discord, some of the channels of this server are now bridged on Matrix, a network for decentralised communication (see https://matrix.org/).
Please note that this is experimental. Not all features of our Discord server are supported and not all channels are bridged. We also have limited moderation capabilities for the Matrix rooms at the moment. Misuse of the bridged rooms will be punished severely. If you have problems or questions you can use this thread, contact modmail here on Discord or contact @capypara:skytemple.org on Matrix.
btw, there is also an (independant) Matrix server for this newsletter, #newsletter:mariusdavid.fr

Space Invaders in EoS
by techticks on the SkyTemple Discord server
Have you ever thought, “man I wish I could shoot up aliens in PMD but with neither the Pokemon nor the Mystery Dungeons?” No? Too bad you're getting it anyways.
Note that some gameplay aspects are still in development, so if it feels unpolished, that's probably why.
I’ll be using a list or something else instead of quoting the announcement message, which just announced when it will be released (in the past relative to when I write the newsletter.
JUST ANNOUNCED AT THE END OF THE LATEST PMD RETOLD EPISODE! Introducing PMD Retold: Darkrai's Revenge! A brand-new, full-length, fully-playable hack (yes! you heard right!) that is a complete rewrite of the Darkrai arc from Explorers' post-game and bring the Team Fire Spark saga to an end. It's not just about nightmares and space distortions anymore, Darkrai is plotting to paralyse the planet any way he can! Just what is this plan and are Team Fire Spark strong enough to stop it?
Expected release date is Q4 2023. Stay tuned for more updates as development progresses. Thank you all so much for your support for PMD Retold over these past 2 years. The YouTube uploads may have ended for now, but there's still far more story to come.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Deceit
By Parker_Ryland in the SkyTemple's Discord guild, some time ago
After a lotta work and a lotta waiting on lines I am finally proud to present the premiere
Of
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Deceit
Chapter 1: Another Story
Premieres in 2 days at 12 pm EST, 10 am MT, 9 am PT, and 11 am CT https://youtu.be/9p-NhAiGYzI
The 27 november
I am blown away by this.
My 2nd most popular video has 279 viewers (as of this message) and it took 4 months for it to get there, my 3rd and 4th took 9 months.
Seeing this many people watching this has literally made me cry a bit.
I wanna thank all of you for the support and for watching the video.
Chapter 2 is nearly done, it just needs a little bit more polish and all my computer setbacks haven't been helping me. But rest assured I'm sure you'll all love to see the guildmembers and other characters, and I'm sure you'll love to see the story unfold as it continues.
I have so much planned not just for this series but this whole world of background characters and ideas that its not even funny.
So once again, thank you all. Expect Chapter 2 next week.
I love this community.
The 29 november
Due to missing 3 whole pieces of dialouge in the video Im gonna take it down and fix those issues, the video will be back up soon for everyone to see but it will not be another premiere.
I apologize, I can't believe I missed that stuff.
Having a good relation with your companions is important! In Whisper of Wisdom, more than ever.
PMD: Lonely Roads
By Okami in the SkyTemple's Discord guild
So I didn't know that hacks are posted here as well so… here ya go. If you wanna see what an absolutely insane dude can make in SkyTemple in 2 weeks with absolutely no prior experience, then this is for you. Special thanks to @glec burrito (high) for helping with play testing! US base.
Lonely Roads finally has it's first official installment! Last time I only made the demo public, but now I feel it has gotten to a length where it is finally worthy of a legitimate non-demo release! Huge thanks to all of those who helped play test it and assisted in the troubleshooting for this! There is more to come. :Sablehype: https://hacks.skytemple.org/h/lonely_roads
Does this Abra remind you of anyone? Obviously it does if you have played the masterpiece “Explorers of the Unknown”!
He makes a little cameo in Explorers of Alpha to provide useful intel about some dungeons, see an example here with Chasm Cave 👀
And will this be with every single dungeon in the game? Eeeeeeeh… sort of, because Abra only tells you about main game dungeons, about the adventure everyone knows, endgame quests are linked with other NPCs who will tell you themselves all you need to know about quest dungeons!
Getting close to 2.0's release, I'll do an announcement every two or three days here 👀
There's times like that where you implement an automatic save file update, and a failsafe is a good idea
New story events, will lose my sanity, 12 days before 2.0
Game crashing at Team Name selection, urgent fix:
Patch another rom with this version, save before Chap.2
Do the events until you can save your game again
Switch back to the official release afterwards
In case there's a crash in the game, just try using this patch to skip the current release crash
NOT NEEDED IF YOU DON'T CRASH, THIS VERSION IS FAR LESS STABLE
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Dark Destiny's development has resumed!!
What's more, I've created a server where you can help contribute towards this development. Check it out down below, if you'd like! https://discord.gg/9c38MpePnK
Explorer of Pokérus Discord's Guild and demo

Explorers of Pokérus 0.0.1 Teaser Demo - HoTY submission
My main and definitive hack couldn't miss the opportunity to appear on this big event. Even if is a teaser, there will be a Hyping Trailer.
This demo is mainly for HoTY submission, I don't recommend playing it if you want to discover the full game in one go.
Patch for EU only → English and Spanish supported
“Discover the events that will endanger the stability of the world. A virus fallen from space, what can it unleash? Follow your adventure alongside Probopass and his Guild in this full-length hack”
⚠️ Some people are getting a false-positive on Windows Defender because of this zip, at least myself I can say is completely safe ⚠️
Hello @everyone! Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Hell & Heaven 2.12 is here! The changelog is longer than usual so I made a .txt file that you will find under this announcement. I hope you'll like this update, feel free to check the message pinned in 『💬』general, it concerns the @Master Player, we are currently checking 2 saves. Have fun and thanks for your patience!
Hello everyone! Sorry for the wait, here is the 2.2 of Explorers of Hell & Heaven! The update is not huge and I apologize for that. The cancellation of the weekly challenges delayed the work a lot, but I think it's better to take more time and have something clean. I hope you like the update, we are slowly coming to the end of the development of the game, the next versions will probably not be bigger, my to-do-list is slowly getting empty.
I will make an announcement soon, but I plan to work on a “wiki” about the game, referencing all the information. It will take some time so I don't have an announcement date.
I hope you'll enjoy this content, thanks for continuing to play and have fun on the game! @everyone
Currently there is a bug for Drastic that you cannot currently save, a fix is being worked on as soon as possible, we are sorry for the inconvenience. feel free to use save states for now.
New release of Explorers of the Azure Sky
By Mr. L in the SkyTemple Discord server
howdy there, it's been a while
real life stuff has kept me very busy, but I wanted to get another release of Explorers of the Azure Sky out before November 1st
unfortunately not much to report with this one, story progress has reached chapter 16
also featuring many, many changes, bugfixes, spelling/grammar mistakes thanks to the feedback from @glec burrito (dead (again))
patch with xDelta as per usual, non-Xenophobia rom (you could probably use one and it'd be fine but)
and thanks for checking out my hack, please feel free to give feedback/suggestions on how I could improve it
In honor of HOTY, here is a new release of Chip 2 with plenty of features that have been in the works for months now! They've actually been around for much longer but I haven't touched the ROM in a good while
These include:
Skippable cutscenes!
QOL improvements!
Extra content in the main menu!!
And a small easter egg in a certain previously useless location! 👀
Enjoy your time with Chip 2 and all its new additions!!
Also, the dungeons are supposed to be unchanged. If they aren't please lmk
later
You can actually get a Key in Rocky Ruins now lmao
Since IIRC the previous version straight up doesn't allow for the game to be completed, I highly recommend playing this version instead
B.L.O.R.G. Polished Edition - Hack of the Year update!
By Mattshark
NikolaP and I have gone through our original Hackjam 3 submission and have updated dialogue, text formatting, and dungeon balance to help everything flow better. There's even partner dialogue inside of dungeons now!
(No major plot changes)
Fragments - Trilogy update
An update for all 3 chapters (small fixes for 1 and 3, bigger changes for 2 as it's the one presented for HotY [so only the contents of “chapter2” need to be judged])
Changes:
All chapters: Fix possible main menu crash and prevent bypassing chapters protection by quicksaving
Chapter 2:
Proofreading and dialogue changes by Adex
Thinking 5 has been updated to prevent broken strategies
Oh no! Last time I had multiple time updated at once, I merged then in the archive (it was hell and heaven). But this one isn’t appropriate for it… I’ll just put of copy of the update for all three hacks. Also made sure hacks are sorted by alphabetical order of their titles, so all three fragment are each in a consecutive place
Later, Irdkwia alsa shared this
Some already found the name, but here we go
New hack (WIP): Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Infinite Labyrinth
This hack by Smingle was updated on the hack repository with no announcement.
The first chapter of a full, expansive new storyline, in which our classic amnesiac protagonist must navigate and uncover the secrets of both the dangerous world they wake up in, as well as their own shrouded past.
Pokéwanderer is a “gameplay overhaul” hack based on various entries in Chunsoft's “Mystery Dungeon” franchise. The primary inspirations behind the changes are Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon(2015) and Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer(1995), though it also borrows ideas from various other titles. While the hack does get much more difficult than the base game, it's not exactly a “kaizo” hack either, just a different design approach.
Primary features:
Major starter re-balancing
Recruitment is disabled except for certain exceptions
Every enemy plays a distinct role in Dungeons, and every encounter holds a lot more weight
Regen speed is much higher, and enemy spawnrates are slightly slower.
Items are much more important, playing an equal role to moves. The proper use and management of items is crucial to your survival.
All items and money are lost on death, and most Dungeons quick save at the start as an anti-cheat measure.
Happy Halloween, everyone! Here's a little teaser for my upcoming hack, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Flames of Chaos. https://youtu.be/HwpgtBHycik
Oh! An RTDX hacks. That’s certainly really interesting and quite uncommon (but still more common than PSMD hacks. And let’s not talk about GTI hacks…)
VWHEEEEEEL
by Jake the Victini
Victini in PMD: Sky? You can count on it! Plus, other characters from Gates to Infinity are there too?!
This small untitled side-project of mine is out now!
I'm thrilled to announce that PMD: Explorers Retold is OFFICIALLY getting a fandub!
Auditions open November 15th!
For further clarification, this is the first ROM hack of EoS to get the fandub treatment and I’m beyond honored to begin this project! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8mPkLAc6BQ
Explorers of Pain remaster announcement (and looking for interested contributor)
By Solargress
Hey yall, the remaster of Explorers Of Pain is coming along pretty great so far, and I hope to make it into a full length hack (actual gameplay time hasn't been decided). My goal rn is for it to be fairly long and less of a shitpost, basically more of an actual story.
Explorers of pain has:
A custom OST (PMD style)
Dark/horror themes (not to be taken 100% seriously since its more of a horror-comedy parody)
The new demo I plan to go up to chapter 3, since i'm remaking the old version from scratch, meaning completely different cutscenes and completely different introduction, but the premise is still the same.
Rn I'm looking for some people who might be interested in helping with custom art and possibly a co-writer to come up with ideas for the future. I'm already collaborating with Cait Sith, but since theres going to be a LOT of custom art here, more help would be greatly apperciated. If you're interested in being a part of this hacks development, DM me!
Team Sandwich also looking for help
should make a dedicated section for those looking for help… By Gelius
Sooooo hey. Currently Team Sandwich is looking for help. It is a very specific task related to Overworld design. If you can help out, it'd be ideal. We actually need imense help to speed up a project we got on hands. Specifically the one originally meant for Hack Jam 3. If you'd like to help, hit me up.
Scene text exporter
By Trio-
This CLI can be used to retrieve all the texts within your scenes (or whatever is in the base game). Copy everything in your script into a txt file, run the program with it, and you should see all the dialogue between your characters!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1C6x6wrUgZgMO40Ob-SFxoc7eHxwjsL7IWoddzztokNA/edit?usp=sharing
This doc was primarily made to assist people with being able to skip checking the xml file and getting the proper SetAnimation IDs needed, along with any extra data such as if the animation ID loops or not (red-highlighted animations do not have an ID and cannot be used), and MAKE SURE YOU USE A COPY
Credit to the original spreadsheet which was manually imported! The sheet may gradually get more updates over time.
→ Update: Durations have now been added, and the system now takes into account CopyOf arguments (the loading times may slow down a bit but the information is correct this time i swear)
This is a markup language extension for Visual Studio Code that lets you edit .ssb files with SkyTemple syntax highlighting and custom snippets. Its purpose is to integrate SkyTemple scripts with an environment well-known for its versatility, which is why this was mostly built for those who might be experienced at scripting or want to improve their workflow outside constant debugging. Access snippets with prefixes or functions (variables use $VARIABLE and $VARIABLE_ARRAY) to get premade template for specific functions. If you have any problems or questions about it, DM me.
Here is a mirror. Did I mention that I found the TOS of the VSCode repository outragious. Actually, same for the TOS of Discord. But we’re not here to talk about that
sec back at it again with the white vans
i compiled a list of sound effects (most of them, let me know where i can find more batches) into a youtube video (with descriptions ripped from the sound effect google sheet) with their in-game IDs for you to use! they're not categorized, but they may be in a future version of this video! https://youtu.be/mXy0FJiNkR0
Some helper for SkyTemple
It’s probably useless to tell you this is done by sec
WITH THE WHITE VANS
I also made an application that provides you a few tools to use while you're on SkyTemple! These are mostly for small side-tasks.
The Sprite Scaler isn't as necessary, but it auto-scales sprites and removes duplicate pixels allowing the sprite to be directly imported into SkyTemple.
The SetAnimation Finder is a ported version of the google sheet which is posted above, but the CopyOf does not display any animations. This will be fixed in a later update.
The Asset Downloader is probably the most useful and gives you a link to download a pokemon's sprites into unzipped folders to import directly into SkyTemple.
Just dropped a new update for SkyTemple Helper, which adds x0.5 scaling! This may not work for a few edge cases, but the sprites that have been tested are working. You can download the new release here: https://github.com/25Pi25/SkyTemple-Helper/releases/tag/v1.2.1
New Community Assets
Pokémon
Animated sprites in this section are animated PNG files. If animated sprites appear to be static images, make sure that your browser supports PNG animation. (Most modern browsers should display them just fine, though.)

Recolored Darkrai
By Chritchy
I decided to recolor Darkrai's portraits and sprites with colors picked from its B2W2 sprites after remembering that it's a dark indigo for some reason in the Mystery Dungeon games, so here they are for anyone who might want to use them. I'll send one of the two portraits and a sprite sheet in a minute for something of a preview.
I have some doubt if it’s a good idea to share portraits that hasn’t be shared with at least the implied purpose of them being re-used… If someone have a comment about this, I’ll be happy to hear it. (thought I have no doubt putting them in the archive is a good idea. And they may other purpose than being re-used, like, as examples/inspirations. Or just nice portraits to look at, althought in this case, extending a bit what is accepted would not a bad idea. There are many really cool art shared that I don’t put here).

Digimons by NeroIntruder
As usual, by NeroIntroder. As usual, ask and wait for a positive response if you want to use them

Ouch, that make 26 sheets full of Digimon portraits. That’s huge.

Pac-Man’s Ghosts
By Kaby, as always, ask the author before use

Hoofisser
By Kaybob

blockquote
A portrait edit of Gabite in a fancy hat for Minarchu on Discord for their upcoming #PMD EoS hack, Explorers of the Merge. Thank you for commissioning this snazzy beast!

Explorers of Death portraits
Content warning for blood (those have a spoiler, move the mouse over to enable them. Untested on mobile, you can probably hold the touch over) (and overall being creepy, as usual with EoD)
As a reminder, Explorer of Death is wonderfully illustrated PMD creepypasty by FireFox6 and sparks. There were a project of hackrom, but it on hiatus for now.
By Remukko, ask before use, as usual

Patches
Let’s hope that one day, patches and tileset will be accepted in SpriteCollab. Thought I think its non-inclusion is mostly a technical issue. As in, not being implemented.

This patch reworks the NPC collision check such that when NPCs initiate collision with the player in the overworld, they will activate their own Talk Script if SetHitAttribute(64); has been used with them!
Requires ExtraSpace to be applied. If you have other patches applied in Overlay36's common area, please note that this patch uses 0x23D8FF0 - 0x23D9014. If you want to use this patch and have any concerns of some kind, please feel free to contact me.
Two ASM patches, they add two mechanics from Gen 6:
Electric-types are immune to Paralysis
Ghost-types are immune to trapping (Shadow Hold)
Patches US only
Patches the overlay_29 and also uses the free area in overlay_36 (0x32F80 and 0x339B8) for the patch to work
Made by me, credits appreciated 🙂
An ASM patch fixing the issue the base game has where Scrappy, Emit Ring and Foresight just don't work at all, also fixes the devs' oversight where Normal and Fighting moves use a special interaction for type calculation
Patch US only, needs ExtraSpace to work
Patches the overlay_29 and overlay 36 (0x35B80)
Made by me, credits appreciated 🙂
An ASM patch I worked on with the help of End!
This patch (US only) requires ExtraSpace to work, and implements Gen V+ sturdy into the game!
Patches overlay 29 and overlay 36 (0x34900)
Made by End and me, credits appreciated!
Not strictly related to PMD, but simply knowing there are leaks might interest you. Message by Audino.
Pokémon Scarlet/Violet is leaking. As a reminder, please confine discussion to spoiler elements of the game to #scarlet-violet-spoilers. Additionally, Spritebot will not be including spoiler Pokémon until one week after release. If you are working on sprites of leaked Pokémon, you can discuss them in #SV Spoiler Sprites C&C.
Pokémon game try not to leak at least a week early challenge (impossible)
This helps me cover server costs. Your support is greatly appreciated!
There aren't really any benefits yet, but you get the role @Ko-fi Supporter here if you support me monthly (will also add a fun role icon later :).
I may add some other benefits in the future, open for ideas.
Capypara is the main developper of SkyTemple, the randomizer, and also does a bunch of other stuff, without which the rom-hacking of EoS wouldn’t be as easy. He also helped form a community, both by simply making SkyTemple, but also, managing it’s related server, where most rom–hacking discussion happen. And without which I would likely not enought content to justify a newsletter or an hack archive. On another side, maybe PSMD hacking would be more popular? But that a very interrogative question. I actually doubt of it myself, thought I would certainly would have spent more time on hacking PSMD myself if there weren’t this cool community.
Message of techticks to the rom-makers
I see that we still have a lot of patching problems in 2022 for some reason. Here's something to you can use to make it easier for users if you want to.
As you can see, users can simply pick a ROM and the tool takes care of downloading and applying the patch. B.L.O.R.G. Polished Edition is based on the US version, but users don't have to care about that. If they pick an EU, EU Bahamut, US Xenophobia, Japanese or Virtual Console release, the tool converts those to a clean US ROM first.
Note that this patching method doesn't support secondary compression, so you have to turn that off when you create the patch. This leads to a neglible size increase in most cases. This site has existed for over a year, but I was hoping that it would be integrated in hacks.skytemple.org. That never happened, so you can use it with this method for now.
That’s actually a really good idea. I’ll try to somehow add this to my hack archive (I already had some experiment for a desktop app for this, but it never got far).
If anyone is interested, here is what I got from my notes:
(specific to this implementation): need to convert hack with secondary compression to hacks with no secondary compression
Needs to looks at file inside a folder.
Take into account the fact it can have multiple xdelta in the archive
Providing a way for the user to read the txt/md/whatever files (the readme, thought there may be multiple of those) is important, as it may contain important information.
(already implemented by the online interface) detect the type of the user-provided ROM
need to detect the type of the input rom expected by the hack. I think xdelta provide a checksum of the input. (actually, my archive have metadata on the base rom, althought they may be incorrect for some).
BlackRaveBow makes video
Just a personnal reminder that BlackRaveBow have a really good pmd-themed RPG-maker animated video serie going on too. (It’s not the only too)
Online PMD Quiz
by Rioni
I've recreated the PMD EoS quiz as a web app with english and spanish support. And it works on mobile!.
It's 1 AM and I'm updating my commissions info, this time with new prices and non-PMD stuff! If you're already in my queue, any price changes won't affect you. Using Paypal as usual, and DM here or at Cait_Sith#4447 on Discord if interested!
As a remainder, you can contribute to on-going publication of this newsletter. Help would really be appreciated. More information can be found on the dedicated page.
